Adult film star Ron Jeremy now making rum

(Las Vegas Weekly, by Sarah Feldberg)

Dan Aykroyd. Justin Timberlake. Maynard James Keenan. Celebrities with their own brands of alcohol are nothing new, but when we saw a certain adult film star’s mug splashed all over something sweet and wet we couldn’t help but get excited. Meet Ron de Jeremy, a 7-year-old Panamanian rum from the one and only Hedgehog that can, as the website suggests, be sipped naked or in “drinxxx” like the RoniriƱa or Ronicane.

When the rum goes down

MATT Helders' boozer bungles and pours away £40k by cracking open rare bottle of rum.

We've all spilt a few mixers in our time but that's a sickener.
Workers at The Bowery bar in Sheffield picked up the sought-after Henry Jefferson of Whitehaven bottle for just £70 last week.

Understandably they were keen to crack it open and try the spirit - but they had no idea how much it was worth. They even filmed the moment when they pulled off the wax seal from the dusty stoneware bottle, spilling the dark liquid all over the bar.

The rum coast

Rum conjures up images of sailors, pirates or smugglers on isolated beaches by the light of a silvery moon . . . It's also intrinsically connected with the islands of the Caribbean.

Saturday afternoon, and it's market day in the historic town of Saint-Pierre on the west coast of Martinique, that seductive slice of France in the Lesser Antilles chain of the Caribbean.

The sleeping volcano Mt Pelee looms over a scene where colorfully dressed women sell exotic fruits and vegetables from their stalls along the seafront. Down inside the Snack Caribe bar, a group of men wearing wide-brimmed straw hats are enjoying their weekly game of dominoes, the silence broken only by the swift clack-clack of the tiles and short bursts of laughter.

"Got Rum?" Magazine is back!

The "Got Rum?" Magazine is back in circulation! The April 2011 issue is now available for download, please visit http://www.gotrum.com to get your free issue!

It has been nearly six years since we published the last issue of “Got Rum?” magazine. At that time, our consulting business was growing so rapidly that we could not keep up with serving both our clients and our readers, so we decided to focus solely on our consulting practice.

While we have enjoyed the freedom to focus only on our clients’ needs, whether these were product formulations, sourcing bulk rum or providing turn-key solutions for their rum businesses, we have missed the consumer education aspect of our business.

We are thankful to all our friends, ranging from distillers, importers, distributors to restaurateurs and consumers, for constantly asking us to bring “Got Rum?” back to circulation: we are indebted to you for your loyalty, passion and perseverance.

We will be bringing you more content than ever before, such as interviews with key business and political figures affecting the industry. You will also be able to access the content via many of today’s portable media devices. All of these changes are signs of maturation and adaptability to a shifting environment and our magazine, much like modern rum, has to evolve to remain relevant.

Our commitment to informing consumers and members of the industry remains unchanged: we are devoted to reviewing new rums, books, events and to bringing you the latest commentary on trends, as well as reminders of rum’s colorful past.

The electronic version of “Got Rum?” continues to be free. We are committed to making “Got Rum?” once again the prized resource it once was. As always, we are open to suggestions, so reach out to us with comments, questions or just to say ‘hello.’
