CARIBBEAN COCKTAILS INSPIRED BY THE NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL
With Europe's biggest street festival just around the corner (Aug 29–30) it’s time to embrace the Caribbean way of life. To get the party in full swing why not try some laid back summer drinks made with Brugal, the Dominican Republic’s number one selling rum.
For a cocktail that is sophisticated yet simple why not try out the locally inspired “Nutty Notting Hill”. Fill a glass with ice cubes and squeeze in a wedge of fresh lime. Add one shot of Brugal Añejo Golden Rum, half a shot of Amaretto and top with lemonade – the perfect drink to enjoy in the sun after the carnival parade!
Just as vibrant as the costumes on show on the streets of Notting Hill, the ‘Caribbean Passion’ is the ideal summer cocktail to impress your friends.
Add four leaves of fresh mint, one shot Brugal Añejo Golden Rum, one shot Passion Fruit Liqueur, one shot pressed apple juice, one shot cranberry juice and a wedge of freshly squeezed lime into a clean, empty tall glass. Half fill the glass with crushed ice then churn vigorously for ten seconds to infuse flavours before topping up with crushed ice and garnishing with an apple wedge and a fresh sprig of mint.
Brugal is the only rum distilled, matured and bottled in the Dominican Republic, and has become part of the island’s heritage. All the ingredients are actively sourced from local farms maintaining Brugal’s island provenance. The Brugal family has managed the brand for five generations, and this tradition continues today, currently headed up by Franklin Brugal.
Two expressions of this world famous rum have been launched the UK - Brugal Aňejo Golden Rum (RRP £18.49) and Brugal Extra Viejo Golden Rum (RRP £22.75). Both are available online at www.mixxit.co.uk and throughout select style bars nationwide.
